What you’ll need

• 2 Letter sheets — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
• Markers
• Pencil — and eraser
• Scissors — small
• Glue stick — or PVA glue
• Sticky notes — pad 2 × 2 in (or 1½ × 2 in), up to ⅜ in thick
• Glass — phone stand

Steps

Trace

1. Sturdy sheet from two. Apply glue stick over the whole surface of a sheet of printer paper, press a second sheet onto it, and smooth with your palm from the middle to the edges. You'll get a thick sheet — work on that one. Put it back in the same spot, edge to edge; don't move the phone.
2. House and leg: outlines. Trace the house with its roof and chimney with a solid line, and on the right the leg: a triangle with a narrow tab strip.
3. House and leg: fold. On the leg there’s a dashed line between the tab and the triangle, with the number 3 next to it. Don’t cut along it.
4. House and leg: drawing. Copy with thin lines: the roof edge with a scalloped trim, the round window with a heart, the stripe on the roof and the line on the chimney.
5. Pocket: outline. Trace the pocket with a solid line: a wide strip with slanted corners and, at the bottom, a projection in the middle.
6. Pocket: folds. Six lines are dashed; don’t cut along them: the two on the sides of the front and the one under it are marked with the number 1, and the ones at the edges of the tabs with the number 2.
7. Pocket: drawing. Copy with thin lines: eyes, cheeks, a smile, a door with a handle, two little flowers at the edges and a stripe along the top of the front.

Color

8. Color: house. Roof — pink; chimney and heart — red. The walls, window and leg stay white.
9. Color: pocket. Door — mint; cheeks — pink; flowers — yellow with a red center; stems — green or black. Eyes — black; don’t color the highlights. The sides and tabs stay white.

Cut

10. Cut out: house and leg — 2 pcs. Cut out the house and the leg along the solid line. At the chimney, make two short cuts that meet.
11. Cut out: pocket. Cut out the pocket along the solid line. Don’t cut the dashed lines — you fold the pocket along them.

Fold

12. Fold the pocket. Turn the pocket over design side down. Fold the sides and the bottom up toward you along the dashed lines 1, then the tabs along the dashed lines 2 — each at a right angle.

Glue

13. House into the pocket. Lay the house design side down on the pocket: the bottom of the house flush with the bottom of the pocket, the sides flush with the walls. Put glue on the inside of the tabs and fold them onto the back of the house.
14. Leg. Fold the leg along the dashed line 3. Put glue on the tab and glue it to the back of the house in the middle: the bottom of the leg is flush with the bottom of the house. The leg stands out at a right angle.

Check

15. Stand it up and add the sticky notes. Stand the house on the desk with the leg at the back. Put the pad of sticky notes into the pocket with the sticky strip up: it will rest on the bottom and peek out above the front.

Done. Your house is done. Put a pad of sticky notes into the pocket — your notes are always at hand.
