On VanGami the template appears over your sheet through your phone camera — no printer needed. Trace it, cut, fold and glue. Below are all the steps in text.
What you’ll need
- Letter sheet — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
- Markers
- Pencil — and eraser
- Ruler — 8–12 in
- Empty pen — to score the folds
- Scissors — small
- Glue stick — or PVA glue
- Glass — phone stand
Steps
Trace
- Flower: outline. Six pointed petals around the center. Between the petals, the line reaches the corner of the hexagon.
- Flower: folds. The sides of the hexagon and the petal veins are dash-dot lines: valley folds.
- Flower: drawing. Each petal gets a stripe along the vein and speckles. Around them is the pink area, with a white border left along the edge.
- Leaves and stamens: outlines. The two leaves are one piece, with the pointed ends sticking out to the sides. Below them is the rectangle for the stamens, drawn with a ruler.
- Fringe and feet. Five lines at the top are the fringe, and five short ones at the bottom are the feet: you’ll snip along them.
- Fold. Along the leaves, draw a dash-dot line from tip to tip; draw the same kind of line across the stamens, above the feet.
- Leaves and stamens: drawing. On the leaves: veins. On the fringe tails: little circles for the anthers, near the top edge.
Color
- Color: flower. Petal area — pink; stripes and speckles — raspberry; center — light green; leave the edges white.
- Color: leaves and stamens. Leaves — green; fringe — light green; anthers — brown.
Cut
- Cut out: flower. Cut out the flower along the solid line. In the corners between the petals, cut exactly to the corner of the hexagon — no farther.
- Cut out: leaves and stamens — 2 pcs. Cut out the leaves and stamens along the solid line, then cut slits in the stamens along the short lines at the top and bottom, all the way to where they end.
Fold
- Raise the petals. Score the sides of the hexagon and the veins with the pen. Lift each petal along a side of the center, drawing facing in, and squeeze it along the vein — the edges of the petal will lift too.
Shape
- Curl the tips. Press a petal against a pencil with its white side and pull it from the middle to the tip — the tip will curl outward. Do all six.
Stamens
- Stamens into the center. Wrap the strip around a pencil with the fringe up, drawing facing out, glue the edge and slip it off. Bend the feet at the bottom outward, spread glue on them and press them into the middle of the flower.
Leaves
- Leaves. Fold the leaves along the line with the drawing facing up — the edges will lift a little. Spread glue on the middle of the leaves and set the flower on it.
Done. The lily is done. You can glue it onto a card or a gift — by the leaves.
