A strawberry, a watermelon slice and an avocado with little faces. Under each fruit is a strip with two slits: the middle tab goes behind the page, the outer ones lie in front, and the bookmark stays on the page by itself, no glue needed.

On VanGami the template appears over your sheet through your phone camera — no printer needed. Trace it, cut, fold and glue. Below are all the steps in text.
What you’ll need
- Letter sheet — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
- Markers
- Pencil — and eraser
- Scissors — small
- Book or notebook — to try on the bookmarks
- Glass — phone stand
Steps
Trace
- Fruit: outlines. Trace the three bookmarks with a solid line — the strawberry, the watermelon and the avocado with the strips under them. Each strip has two slits at the bottom: those are cut lines too.
- Fruit: tabs. On the middle leg of each strip there’s a short dashed line between the tops of the slits: the page will go in up to it. Don’t cut or fold along it.
- Fruit: drawing. Copy with thin lines: the strawberry’s leaves and seeds, the watermelon’s rind and seeds, the avocado’s skin and pit. Each fruit gets eyes, cheeks and a smile.
Color
- Color: fruit. Strawberry — red, leaves — green, seeds — yellow. Watermelon — red, rind — green, leave the strip under the rind white, seeds — black. Avocado — light green, skin — green, pit — brown. Strips — pink, light green and yellow. Cheeks — pink, eyes — black; don’t color the highlights.
Cut
- Cut out: fruit — 3 pcs. Cut out the bookmarks along the solid line. Cut the slits from the bottom up, all the way to the dashed line — but don’t cut the dashed line itself.
Check
- Slide it onto the page. Use your fingernail to gently bend the middle tab back, without creasing it, and slip it behind the page, with the legs in front. Slide the bookmark down to the tops of the slits and let go: the tab will press the page against the legs.
Done. Your bookmarks are done. Slip them onto the pages — the fruit peeks out above the book even when it’s closed.
