On VanGami the template appears over your sheet through your phone camera — no printer needed. Trace it, cut, fold and glue. Below are all the steps in text.
What you’ll need
- Letter sheet — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
- Markers
- Pencil — and eraser
- Scissors — small
- Glue stick — or PVA glue
- Glass — phone stand
Steps
Trace
- Stick and stopper: outlines. Trace the strip with a wavy top — that’s the stick — and the small stopper strip under it.
- Stick and stopper: layout marks. On the left of the stick is the line of the glue area, and across it runs a line: above it the stick is red.
- Case and cap: outlines. Trace two rectangles. The lower one, the cap, has four flaps at the top with triangular notches between them.
- Case and cap: layout marks. The lines of the glue areas on the left, the lines of the gold rims, the line at the base of the flaps, and the heart on the cap.
Color
- Stick and stopper: coloring. Color the stick above the line red, except the glue area and the narrow highlight stripe; don’t color below the line — that part hides inside the case. Stopper in pink.
- Case and cap: coloring. Rims, flaps and heart in yellow, everything else in pink. Leave the glue areas and the highlight stripes white.
Cut
- Cut out: stick and stopper — 2 pcs. Cut with scissors along the solid line. Turn the sheet, not the scissors — the cut will come out neater.
- Cut out: case and cap — 2 pcs. Cut out the case and the cap. For the notches between the flaps, make two cuts into the corner on the line.
Roll
- Roll the case and the cap. Apply glue to the margin on the left, up to the line, roll the strip with the drawing facing out, and lay the right edge on the line. Do the cap the same way, flaps up.
- Close the cap. Fold the flaps inward one at a time: put glue on the underside of each next one and lay it over the one before. The top of the cap is closed.
- Roll the stick. Color the back red along the wavy edge, in a ¾ in strip: it shows at the slanted end. Roll the stick red side out and, while the glue is still wet, test it in the case: it goes in snugly but still slides.
Assemble
- Glue the prop. Lay the stopper strip pink side down and apply glue to its ends. Stand the case on the middle of the strip and press the ends against the outside of the case.
- Put the stick in the case. Insert the stick into the case from the top, slanted end up, and push it down as far as it goes.
Check
- Put on the cap. Put on the cap — it rests on the stick. Take it off and pull the stick by its tip: it slides out; push it — it hides away.
Done. The lipstick is done. Take off the cap and pull the stick by its tip — it slides out; push it — it hides all the way down.
