Mini Crown Headband

A golden crown made of two zigzag halves with drawn-on jewels. It sits on an ordinary headband and is held with tape from the inside. One half closed into a ring makes a crown for a doll.

What you’ll need

• Letter sheet — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
• Markers
• Pencil — and eraser
• Scissors — small
• Glue stick — or PVA glue
• Tape — clear, wide
• Headband — plastic, any kind — the crown sits on it
• Glass — phone stand

Steps

Trace

1. Two halves: outline. Trace both halves of the crown with a solid line: the points and the rectangular tab on the right. You’ll cut along these lines.
2. Drawing and tab. Sketch the gems, stripes and rays lightly. A short line sets off the tab: don’t color it — the glue goes on it.

Color

3. Yellow. The paper is white, but these parts should be this color: color them in completely, up to the outline. Move the marker in one direction.
4. Color the gems. In the middle, a red oval, blue diamonds next to it, green circles at the edges. Stripes and rays in orange.

Cut

5. Cut out: crown half — 2 pcs. Cut out both halves along the solid line. Cut the points with straight cuts: from the dip up to the tip and back down to the next dip.

Glue

6. Halves into one strip. Spread glue on the tab of the first half — on the picture side. Lay the start of the second half on it, its edge at the tab line, and press. You get a band with ten points.

Assemble

7. Close the ring. Stand the band on the table and curl it picture side out. Spread glue on the second half’s tab and tuck it under the start of the first, edge to the line. Hold for half a minute.
8. On the headband. Place the crown on the headband in the middle, with the tallest point at the front: the headband touches its edge on the left and right. At those spots, on the inside, stick a 1⅛–1⅝ in piece of tape on each side — half on the crown wall, half on the headband.

Done. The crown is done. Put on the headband — the crown will sit right on top of your head.
