What you’ll need

• Letter sheet — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
• Markers
• Pencil — and eraser
• Ruler — 8–12 in

Steps

Trace

1. Front: outline. Two walls side by side: a triangle gable and the bottom join one, a roof panel joins the other, and there are two tabs at the edges. Put dots at all the corners using the screen, then draw the lines with a ruler.
2. Front: folds. The lines between the walls, the roof panel, the bottom and the tabs are dashed: you fold along them.
3. Front: drawing. A door and two windows on the wall with the gable, a round window in the gable, a big window on the second wall, roof tiles on the roof panel and grass along the bottom of the walls. Copy it all with thin lines.
4. Back: outline. Two walls side by side: above the left one, a gable with a tab on the slope; above the right one, a roof panel with a flap on top, and tabs on the right and at the bottom. Dots at the corners, then lines with a ruler.
5. Back: folds. The lines between the walls, the roof panel, the flap and the tabs are dashed.
6. Back: drawing. Two windows and a round window on the wall with the gable, a big window on the second wall, roof tiles on the roof panel and grass along the bottom of the walls. Leave the flap blank.

Color

7. Color: front. Roof panel — red, window panes and the small window — light blue, door — brown, grass — green. Leave the walls white.
8. Color: back. Roof panel — red, window panes and the small window — light blue, grass — green.

Cut

9. Cut out: front. Cut out the front in one piece, together with the tabs. At the inside corners near the roof and the bottom, cut exactly up to the line.
10. Cut out: back. Cut out the back together with the tabs and the tuck flap.

Fold

11. Score and fold. Score all the dashed lines with an empty pen along a ruler. Turn the pieces face down, fold each line up and let go.

Glue

12. Walls. Fold both pieces at a right angle along the line between the walls. Fold the side tabs inward and put glue on them. Join the pieces: each tab goes inside, against the edge of the other piece.
13. Bottom. Fold the three tabs at the bottom of the walls inward and put glue on them. Close the bottom and press it down with your finger through the open roof.
14. Right roof panel. Fold the tab on the slanted edge of the back gable inward and put glue on it. Lower the right roof panel onto it — it will rest on both gables. Press for 10 seconds.

Assemble

15. Close the roof. Put a gift inside. Fold the flap of the left roof panel inward and lower the panel: the flap tucks under the right roof panel, and the roof stays closed without glue.

Done. The house is done. To open it, lift the left roof panel by its edge — the flap will slip out from under the right panel.
