On VanGami the template appears over your sheet through your phone camera — no printer needed. Trace it, cut, fold and glue. Below are all the steps in text.
What you’ll need
- Letter sheet — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
- Markers
- Pencil — and eraser
- Ruler — 8–12 in
- Empty pen — to score the folds
- Scissors — small
- Glue stick — or PVA glue
- Glass — phone stand
Steps
Trace
- Front and door: outlines. Two triangles — one with its tip up, the other with its tip down — and tabs around each one. Put dots at the corners and draw the straight lines with a ruler.
- Front and door: folds. The sides of both triangles are dashed: you fold the tabs along them.
- Front and door: drawing. On both triangles, draw two lines across, the borders of the stripes. On the one with its tip up, also draw the eyes, smile and cheeks: that’s the front.
- Walls: outlines. Two identical long strips — draw them with a ruler.
- Walls: drawing. On each strip, draw three lines across. The first one on the left is the bottom corner of the box, and to the left of it is the bottom.
Color
- Color: front and door. On both triangles, the wide part up to the first line — yellow, the middle — orange; leave the tip white. On the front, the eyes — black, the cheeks — pink. Don’t color the tabs.
- Color: walls. From the first line to the second — yellow, to the third — orange; leave the right end white. Don’t color the bottom to the left of the first line — it won’t be visible.
Cut
- Cut out: front and door — 2 pcs. Cut out both triangles together with the tabs. Cut the straight edges along a ruler; between the tabs of neighboring sides, cut down the middle.
- Cut out: wall — 2 pcs. Cut out both strips along a ruler.
Fold
- Fold the tabs. Score the dashed lines with an empty ballpoint pen along a ruler and fold all the tabs of both triangles to the back — to a right angle.
Glue
- Glue on the walls. Place the front drawing side down with the tabs pointing up; put glue on the outside of the tabs. Lay a strip against one side with the orange part closer to the tip: the white end, after the orange, goes exactly into the tip. At the bottom corner, fold it along the edge of the yellow — the bottom will lie on the bottom tab. Do the second strip the same way on the other side.
- Door. Put glue only on the bottom tab of the door and glue it to the bottom from the inside: the fold goes exactly along the back edge, the drawing faces out. Don’t glue the side tabs.
Assemble
- Candies, then close. Put small candies inside. Close the door: bend the side tabs inward — they slip under the walls and hold it shut without glue.
Check
- Stand it up. Stand the box on its bottom — the candy corn is ready. To open it: pry up the door at the back by its tip.
Done. The box is done. To open it, pry up the door by its tip — the side tabs will pop out on their own.
