On VanGami the template appears over your sheet through your phone camera — no printer needed. Trace it, cut, fold and glue. Below are all the steps in text.
What you’ll need
- Letter sheet — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
- Markers
- Pencil — and eraser
- Ruler — 8–12 in
- Scissors — small
- Glue stick — or PVA glue
- Empty pen — to score the folds
- Glass — phone stand
Steps
Trace
- Red goal: outline. Goal pattern: a rectangle for the back wall, the roof above it, and the sides with tabs at the left and right. Using the screen, mark dots at all the corners, then connect them with a ruler.
- Red goal: folds. Draw the lines around the back wall and by the tabs as dash-dot lines: they fold toward you, with the drawing on the inside. Tab numbers: 1 and 2.
- Red goal: net. Use a ruler to draw the net, as on the screen. Along the edge of the roof and the sides, leave narrow strips: those are the goalposts and the crossbar, and the net doesn’t go into them.
- Blue goal: outline. A second pattern just like it — dots at the corners and lines with a ruler.
- Blue goal: folds. Draw the folds as dash-dot lines and number the tabs 1 and 2.
- Blue goal: net. The same net with a ruler, plus the goalpost strips.
- Puck: two circles. Trace two circles, 1⅜ in each — you’ll glue them into a ball-puck.
- Puck: ball. On each circle, draw a soccer ball: a pentagon in the middle, with lines from its corners to pentagons at the edge.
Color
- Color: red goal. Go over the net in red. Leave the goalposts and crossbar white, with just the outline in black.
- Color: blue goal. Color the net blue and the outline of the goalposts black.
- Color: puck. Color the pentagons black and leave the rest white.
Cut
- Cut out: red goal. Cut out the goal piece together with the two tabs. At the corners by the tabs, cut in from both sides.
- Cut out: blue goal. Cut out the goal piece together with the two tabs. At the corners by the tabs, cut in from both sides.
- Cut out: puck — 2 pcs. Cut out both circles by turning the paper, not the scissors — the edge will come out smooth.
Fold
- Fold both goal pieces. Score all the dashed lines with an empty pen along a ruler. Fold each line toward you, drawing side in — tabs too — then flatten it out again.
Red goal
- Build the goal. Raise the roof and the sides — drawing side in. Put glue on the front of tabs 1 and 2 and press them onto the outside, on top of the roof. Stand the goal on its bottom edges.
Blue goal
- Second goal. Do the blue goal the same way: walls drawing side in, tabs 1 and 2 on top of the roof.
Puck
- Glue the puck. Lay one circle drawing side down and spread glue over the whole back. Place the second circle on it drawing side up, edge to edge, and press.
Check
- Score a goal. Set the goals at opposite ends of the table, openings facing each other. Lay the puck flat and take turns hitting it with a flick of your finger: if it goes into the other player’s goal, that’s a goal!
Done. Your soccer game is done. Set the goals at opposite ends of the table. Take turns: the puck lies flat, one flick — and it slides toward the other player’s goal. The first to score five goals wins.
