Blush Compact

A round compact with a flower on the lid: inside are a mirror and coral blush with a heart, with a powder puff with a ribbon on top. The whole compact is made from one piece.

What you’ll need

• Letter sheet — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
• Markers
• Pencil — and eraser
• Scissors — small
• Glue stick — or PVA glue
• Glass — phone stand

Steps

Trace

1. Compact: outline. Trace four circles arranged in a square and the bridges between them: all of it is one piece.
2. Compact: folds. Across each bridge, draw a dashed line. Between the circles on the right, draw a dash-dot line: that’s where the hinge will be.
3. Compact: drawing. Top left: a ring and a flower upside down — that’s on purpose. On the right: the mirror and the blush with a heart. Bottom left: the ring for the base.
4. Powder puff: outline. Trace a circle — this is the powder puff.
5. Powder puff: drawing. A dashed circle for the stitching, a ribbon across, and a little bow in the middle.

Color

6. Compact: coloring. Color the circle with the flower pink, leave the petals white, and make the center and the ring yellow. Color the mirror light blue, with white highlights; the blush coral, with the heart a little lighter. For the base, a pink ring and a little heart.
7. Powder puff: coloring. Color the ribbon pink and the bow coral; make the stitching a pink dashed line. The powder puff itself stays white.

Cut

8. Cut out: compact. Cut out the compact as one piece: circles with the bridges between them. Turn the sheet and move the scissors smoothly.
9. Cut out: powder puff. Cut with scissors along the solid line. Turn the sheet, not the scissors — the cut will come out neater.

Glue

10. Glue the lid. Lay the compact drawing side down. Spread glue on the back of the circle with the flower and fold it along the dashed line onto the neighboring circle — edge to edge.
11. Glue the bottom. Spread glue the same way on the back of the circle with the ring and the little heart and fold it onto the blush circle.

Fold

12. Fold the compact. Turn the compact drawing side up. Fold along the dash-dot line: the mirror lies on the blush. Crease the fold and open it.

Check

13. Close the compact. Put the puff on the blush and close the lid: the puff is flat, so the lid closes all the way. Open it — the mirror, the blush and the puff are all in place.

Done. The compact is done. Open it — mirror, blush and puff. Pick up the puff by the edge, “powder” your cheeks, put it back and close the lid.
