Mini Photo Frame

Mini Photo Frame

A daisy frame for a 2⅜ × 3½ in photo: the photo slides in from the top into a pocket between the frame and the back, and you can swap it anytime. A triangle stand on the back keeps the frame standing on the table at a slight tilt.

On VanGami the template appears over your sheet through your phone camera — no printer needed. Trace it, cut, fold and glue. Below are all the steps in text.

What you’ll need

Steps

Trace

  1. Sturdy sheet from two. Apply glue stick over the whole surface of a sheet of printer paper, press a second sheet onto it, and smooth with your palm from the middle to the edges. You'll get a thick sheet — work on that one. Put it back in the same spot, edge to edge; don't move the phone.
  2. Frame halves: outline. Trace the two identical halves with a solid line — you’ll cut along them. The cutout on each one is open at the edge.
  3. Frame halves: pattern. Trace the daisies, the dots between them and a thin line along the cutout — on both halves.
  4. Stand: outline. Trace the triangle with a strip on the left — it’s the stand.
  5. Stand: fold. The dashed line sets off the tab strip: you’ll fold the stand along it, and the tab gets glued to the back panel.
  6. Back: outline. Trace the rectangle with rounded corners — it’s the back panel of the frame. It has no window.

Color

  1. Frame halves: coloring. Petals — pink, centers — yellow, dots and the line along the cutout — light blue.

Cut

  1. Cut out: frame half — 2 pcs. Cut out both halves along the outline. Cut the opening from the open edge: run the scissors along the line to the corner, turn the sheet and keep cutting.
  2. Cut out: stand. Cut with scissors along the solid line. Turn the sheet, not the scissors — the cut will come out neater.
  3. Cut out: back. Cut with scissors along the solid line. Turn the sheet, not the scissors — the cut will come out neater.

Glue

  1. Bottom half. Turn the half pattern side down and apply glue to a narrow strip along the outer edge: on both sides and along the rounded edge. Place it on the bottom part of the back, corner to corner.
  2. Top half. Apply glue to the second half only along the sides, by the outer edge. Don’t glue the rounded edge — that’s where the photo pocket will be. Place it on the top part of the back, right up against the first one.
  3. Fold the stand. Lay the stand pencil lines down and fold it along the dashed line at a right angle: the narrow strip is the tab, and the triangle props up the frame.
  4. Stand onto the back. Turn the frame pattern side down. On the back, apply glue to a strip down the middle, 2¾ in up from the bottom edge, and press the stand’s tab onto it — bottom flush with the edge of the frame, wide end of the triangle down.

Photo

  1. Photo into the pocket. Stand the frame on the table: it rests on its bottom edge and the stand. Slide the photo in from the top, into the pocket between the frame and the back, and push it all the way down.

Done. The frame is done. You can change the photo anytime: slide it up with your finger through the window, pull it out of the pocket and slip in another one. You can also skip gluing on the stand — then it’s easy to hang the frame on the wall with a piece of double-sided tape.
