Sushi Set

Two mini rolls with faces — salmon and cucumber — and a pair of chopsticks. The rice is a white circle with teeth, wrapped in a strip of nori, with a circle of filling on top.

On VanGami the template appears over your sheet through your phone camera — no printer needed. Trace it, cut, fold and glue. Below are all the steps in text.

What you’ll need

Steps

Trace

  1. Rolls: outlines. Trace two big circles — the rice — and under them two little circles of filling.
  2. Rice: cuts. Along the edge of each big circle, draw ten short lines: you’ll cut the edge along them.
  3. Rice: folds. Between the ends of the cuts, draw a dashed line: the teeth will fold down along it.
  4. Rolls: drawing. On the filling, draw little faces: eyes with a highlight, cheeks and a mouth. On the salmon, add two white stripes; on the cucumber, a middle with seeds. On the rice near the edge, draw grains with a regular pencil.
  5. Nori and chopsticks: outlines. Trace two strips 4¼ × ⅞ in — that’s the nori — and under them two more, 4⅜ × ¾ in — the chopsticks.

Color

  1. Color: fillings. Color the salmon orange and leave the stripes uncolored. Color the cucumber green on the edge and lime green in the middle. Color the eyes black and the cheeks pink.
  2. Dark green. Color the areas that match this color. Move the marker in one direction — you’ll get fewer streaks.

Cut

  1. Cut out: rolls — 4 pcs. Cut out all four circles. On the big ones, snip the edge along the short lines — up to the dashed line, no farther.
  2. Cut out: nori and chopsticks — 4 pcs. Cut out the four strips along the straight lines.

Fold

  1. Teeth down. Fold all the teeth of each circle down along the dashed line: the rice now looks like a little cap.

Glue

  1. Filling onto the rice. Spread glue on the back of the filling and glue it in the middle of the cap: salmon on one, cucumber on the other.
  2. Wrap the nori. Spread glue on the outside of the teeth. Put the nori strip against them — top edge level with the rice — and wrap it around, gluing the end so it overlaps. Do the same with the second roll.

Assemble

  1. Chopsticks. Roll each white strip tightly, starting from the long edge, into a thin tube. Spread glue on the last centimeter and press.

Check

  1. Serving. Stand the rolls side by side, filling up, and lay the chopsticks in front of them.

Done. The sushi is done. Serve it on a plate or a box lid, with the chopsticks next to it.
