Fries in a Box

Fries in a Box

A red box with a face and fries with golden-brown tips. You don’t cut out the fries one by one: they’re “combs” with slits that you glue inside the box.

On VanGami the template appears over your sheet through your phone camera — no printer needed. Trace it, cut, fold and glue. Below are all the steps in text.

What you’ll need

Steps

Trace

  1. Box: outline. Trace the net: four walls in a row, a narrow tab on the left, and at the bottom the base and the bottom tab.
  2. Box: folds. Six dashed lines: four between the walls and two at the bottom — by the base and by the tab.
  3. Box: drawing. On the front wall, draw a little face: eyes with a highlight, a smile, and little cheek strokes. Along the bottom of all the walls, draw a wave.
  4. Fries: outlines. Trace two combs: each one has five fries with uneven tips.
  5. Fries: slits. Between the fries, draw slits up to the line.
  6. Fries: drawing. At the bottom, a line across: the slits go up to it. On each fry, draw a golden tip and a little dash in the middle.

Color

  1. Color: box. Color the whole net red, going around the highlights in the eyes. Then use black for the eyes, smile, cheeks and wave.
  2. Color: fries. Color the fries yellow and the tips and little dashes orange.

Cut

  1. Cut out: box. Cut with scissors along the solid line. Turn the sheet, not the scissors — the cut will come out neater.
  2. Cut out: fries — 2 pcs. Cut out both combs along the outline, then cut along the slits up to the line.

Fold

  1. Fold. Lay the box face down and fold along all the dashed lines — walls, tab, bottom — then unfold.

Glue

  1. Tube. Spread glue on the narrow tab and fold up the walls: the tab goes under the edge of the end wall, on the inside. Press.
  2. Bottom. Stand the box up. Fold the bottom tab at the back wall inward, spread glue on the bottom and press it from below against the tab.
  3. Fries inside. Spread glue on the bottom of a comb up to the line. Glue the tall one inside against the back wall, and the short one against the front. Fan the fries out a little.

Check

  1. Done. Stand the box on the table: the tall fries in back, the short ones in front, and the face looking at you.

Done. The fries are done. Serve them with the burger — and you have lunch for a pretend café.
