Pie Slice Card

A mini card shaped like a slice of pumpkin pie: orange filling, a golden crimped crust, and a cloud of whipped cream on top. Inside, there’s room for a wish.

What you’ll need

• Letter sheet — office paper, 80 gsm (20 lb)
• Markers
• Pencil — and eraser
• Scissors — small
• Glue stick — or PVA glue
• Glass — phone stand

Steps

Trace

1. Slice: outline. Trace the net with a solid line: a point at the top, two straight edges and an arc at the bottom.
2. Slice: fold. Down the middle there’s a dashed line from the point to the arc: the card will be folded along it. Don’t cut.
3. Slice: drawing. On both halves, draw the edge of the crust along the arc and the crimps across it.
4. Whipped cream: outline. Trace the cloud of whipped cream — wavy top and flat bottom.
5. Whipped cream: drawing. Draw three swirls inside the cloud with thin lines. The cloud itself stays white.

Color

6. Color: slice. Color the filling orange, the crust yellow and the crimps brown. Color the cinnamon dots brown, but don’t color the highlight.
7. Color: whipped cream. Go over the swirls darker with a regular pencil — the cream stays white. Color the edge of the cloud black.

Cut

8. Cut out: slice. Cut out the net along the solid line: the two straight edges from the tip and the curve of the crust. Don’t cut along the dashed line in the middle.
9. Cut out: whipped cream. Cut out the whipped cream along the solid line, following the waves.

Fold

10. Fold in half. Turn the net over drawing side down and fold it along the dashed line: half on top of half, tip to tip, curve to curve. Crease the fold.

Glue

11. Whipped cream. Gently curve the whipped cream with your fingers. Put a drop of glue only in the middle of the back: glue the cloud near the crust, and the edges stay raised.

Check

12. Message. Open the card and write a wish inside, or what you’re thankful for. Close it — on the outside it’s a slice of pie with whipped cream.

Done. The card is done. Write a wish inside — for example, why you’re thankful for the person you’re giving it to.
